About Transformed Discipleship

About The Transformed Discipleship Study

Jesus commands us to make disciples. But many in the church today have never been discipled themselves, and are at a loss as to where to begin. Transformed Discipleship will help you develop a solid foundation in your own walk with Christ. It will also serve as a practical tool that you can use to help others get established in the faith, and grow in the Christian life.

Through this 9 session study you’ll discover:

  • Who is God, and what is He like?
  • What has Jesus done, and what does it mean for my life?
  • What is the Bible about, and how do I begin studying it?
  • Why should I pray, and where do I start?
  • What does it really mean to be a disciple of Jesus?
  • What role does the Church play, and do I need to be a part of one?
  • If I’m a Christian, why do I still struggle with temptation?
  • How do I let others know that I’m a follower of Jesus?
  • What does it look like to honor God with each day?

As you travel through the Transformed Discipleship study with your disciple/disciple-maker or group, you’ll examine passages of Scripture, complete weekly growth assignments to help you apply the principles that you learn to everyday life, memorize verses and develop crucial accountability relationships with others.

Discipleship conjures up a lot of different ideas in people’s minds. Often discipleship is presented as a class or a series of books or studies to be completed. But while “content” is an important aspect of discipleship, it’s not the whole thing. In the great commission that He gave to us, Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

So according to Jesus, discipleship includes teaching, but not simply for the sake of knowledge. We as disciples of Jesus, and disciple-makers are to be concerned about bringing our lives into conformity to Jesus’ teaching.

We believe therefore, that a good working definition for a disciple is:

A follower of Jesus, who is being transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and becoming equipped with the Word of God, in order to live in increasingly consistent obedience to it, and in turn equipping others so that they too will come to follow Jesus as disciples.

As disciples who are learning to follow after Jesus, we encounter different stages along the path. Here at Transformed Discipleship, our goal is to equip and encourage followers of Jesus as they travel along the way with Him.
